Louis Comfort Tiffany was the man who created tiffany lamp. He was an American and son of a New York jeweller, Charles Tiffany. Tiffany was the man who introduced color into glass and the term "Favrile" is used in the world of tiffany lamps to define it. Actual meaning of favrile is by hand and Tiffany patented the technique around 1880.It was a very unique style of colored glass and was unlike the stained glass which was very prevalent in European artwork. It was just the coloring of a pain glass.

But Tiffany used a different method which involved spraying reheated glass with a vaporized solution of salts of tin or iron which was absorbed by the molten glass and created layers of reflecting color when the object cooled.

Tiffany lamps had popular designs like dragonfly, peacocks, wisteria and water lilies. During that time having these lamps was only the reach of the rich and wealthy Americans.
