Seven Good Reasons To Grow Vegetables Yourself

In the last decade we have seen changes towards homogenized and mechanized farming using hormones, additives, herbicides and continued use of pesticides as well as synthetic fertilizers and mass production. These practices are noticeable affecting mans health. In addition new diseases are spreading between humans and animals like swine and bird flu.

Reports from the World Health Organization explain how using chemicals and other additives in our foods, along with the manufacturing we do to produce box foods are actually a big threat to our heath.

If you know how to grow potted plants or have room for a small garden it would be wise to grow your own organic produce. I am explaining seven great reasons for doing this here:

1. You will not find any additives in your organic vegetables. Through research by organic food associations we are shown how these things added to our foods can cause mi grains, heart diseases, osteoporosis, and hyperactivity.

2. You will not have to worry about synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. These chemicals are used to protect crops from insects and extreme temperatures but they do affect the quality of the produce.Pesticides are toxins to human as well.

3. There will be no genetic modification. Farmers also use drugs such as antibiotics and hormones to grow larger plants and vegetables. The problem with this practice is you end up up with identical vegetables that have virtually no taste. The hormones that have been used end up being ingested by us further affecting our health.

4. It is much more healthy for you to eat your own organic vegetables that you have grown. This way you can be sure your vegetables will not contain any of the chemicals listed, and you can bet they will be much healthier than anything you could find in the local market. You will not have to be worried that you are hurting your health since you will know you did not add anything unnatural to your produce.

5. Growing your own organic vegetables will provide you with much more tasty vegetables. Using pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, hormones and antibiotics cause vegetables to grow in an unnatural way and hurt the taste as well. Organic vegetables will enhance your cooking as they tend to have much better flavor.

6. Organic farming is kind to our environment as well. By not using pesticides or other harmful toxins on your vegetables, you will not contaminate the enviornment with the chemical components.

7. By growing your own organic produce you contribute to your own self-sustainability and that of the planet. Small groups have been formed whose members exchange the produce they grow. This helps to create a friendly environment and makes it a better place for everyone.

Eating organic products just means that you don\'t add anything to them that they would not naturally have. As you can guess, additives, fertilizers, pesticides or hormones are not ingredients of naturally grown food. To enjoy better health, try growing your own organic vegetables in some small pots on your patio.
