Basic Tips For Unclogging The Bathroom Sink

Clogging in your bathroom sink is a very normal issue. This sink gets more clogged as compared to other sinks in your house. The main reason for clogging of bathroom sink is the large amount of hairs trapping in it. The clog can be cleared without calling the plumber also. You just need to follow some simple steps to clear the clog.

To solve the problem of clogging, use a plunger first as it is very famous for unclogging a minor problem. When you will use this tool there is no need of taking apart all the parts of your sink. Add water to your sink and then plunge it with a plunger

The best plunger to use on a sink is a force cup plunger. Plunge the sink at least four or five times before checking to see if the sink bowl has drained. If that solves the problem, run hot water from the faucet for a few minutes to be sure the problem is fixed.

If the problem of clogged sink has not been solved then you need to dismantle your sink. Dismantle the p-trap (a pipe that dips low and then curves) and take it off with a pipe wrench.

In order to take out a p-trap, unscrew the nuts on its side. You can also put a bucket near the trap in order to keep things in that bucket. After taking off the trap, you need to clean that trap.

The trap will be full of grime and slush that never got a chance to go through the pipe. Clean the inner side of the p-trap with a cleaning brush and clean out all the large pieces that could possibly be a clog hazard.

Now reattach the trap and find out that the problem of clogged sink is solved or not. In case it is still not solved then the clog is expected to be present down the pipe. In this case, a plumber's snake less than 25 feet will help you. While using it, you should wear the protective gloves.

Run the snake downwards and move it through the pipeline more than once to be sure that the clog has been dislodged. If you have reassembled the p-trap and the sink is still not working, you can repeat the process or call a professional to check it out.
